Accommodation for 16 persons.
The bush camp at Deelfontein consists of three traditional
thatched stone-and-mud huts, a lapa, a boma, and toilet facilities. The ruins of
the old workers houses were renovated when the camp was built in 2006,
and the other buildings added in amongst the existing trees and shrubs,
ensuring that the camp blends in with the surroundings and affording
privacy. The camp is accessible by vehicle.
Environmentally friendly materials and systems have been
chosen to minimise the impact of tourism on nature, and to save energy
and water. Only electrical light is available, no plugs, but the accommodation is
comfortable and offers an unforgettable experience in this pristine and
secluded part of the Dome. Hot water is supplied by two donkeys.
Two of the
huts have two rooms each, are equipped with furniture for storage and
hanging clothes, and sleep 6 persons. The smaller room has one stack bed
with mattresses, the larger two stack beds. These huts also have a
bathroom with shower and basin each. The third hut has a single room
with two stack beds, as well as a bathroom. The huts are shielded from each other and the lapa
by the indigenous vegetation. In the lapa you will find the barbeque
facilities, stove, sink and seating for 16
persons. The boma has an open fireplace with benches around it, as well
as a kitchen. The toilet building houses two modern composting toilets and
two urinals. Please ensure that you study the directions for use!

Barbeque area with grill, gas stove with four burners and oven, single sink, two tables with

Boma: An open fireplace with benches and reed fence. A second
kitchen with basin and table.

Nearest shopping: Vredefort (14 km) and Parys (20 km).
The following is not available:
Bedding, towels, fridge, television, firewood, cell phone reception, cleaning service, toilet
paper, matches, dishwashing liquid. No meals are provided; please supply
your own food and beverages.
